On arrival, you will be greeted by your team leader and shown to your designated undercover area. Every school and nursery group is given their own undercover area where they can leave their belongings and eat their lunch, so that you can enjoy your visit whatever the weather.

Your Booking
Generally, most groups aim to arrive at 10am and depart by 2pm.
Spring and autumn terms are usually quieter. For summer term dates, we recommend booking before February as dates fill quickly.
Teachers are welcome to visit in advance, free of charge, to complete risk assessments. Please call ahead to let us know.

Health & Safety
Whilst visiting Bocketts is an enjoyable and educational experience, like all farms, it is not one completely free of risks. We have in place a fully comprehensive Health and Safety Policy, with over 200 risk and COSHH assessments, comprehensive staff induction and training programmes, and documented inspection and maintenance schedules.

Whilst carrying out your Risk Assessment for your school visit you may find the following documents useful to you:
Whilst we cannot do your risk assessments for you, the following is a list of the main hazards we have identified in our own risk assessments, which your children may encounter on their visit:
Unsupervised children
Uneven ground surfaces and flints
Moving vehicles and tractors
Fences and gates which are dangerous if climbed upon
Animals with sharp teeth and some with horns
Dogs/cats
Ponds
Infection from animals and their manure
All of these are covered in our Safety Talk (given to the children, parents and teachers on arrival) a script of which is included in your booking confirmation. Teachers should pay special attention to the notes about handwashing.

Teacher Resources
Our fantastic worksheets can be used in the classroom in preparation for, or following, an educational visit. They are password protected and are available to all schools and nurseries who confirm a booking with us.
